Huawei has introduced the folding Mate XS 2. It uses a folding design instead of the folding design of the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Currently only available in China.

The Huawei Mate X joined Samsung’s Galaxy Fold as the first two foldable phones from major manufacturers. The Mate X and the sequel to the Mate XS differed from Samsung folders in that they were foldable designs instead of foldable book-type devices. Now, the company is back with a folding device as it launches the Huawei Mate XS 2. The Mate XS 2 actually looks like a more sophisticated version of the Mate X and Mate XS at first glance. There is this well-known form factor as well as a rear camera housing that acts as a handle when the device is unfolded. Perhaps the most notable visual tweak is that it now features a slotted slot for a 10.7MP selfie camera on the foldable screen. The company also chose to use a kind of “3D micro-fiber” back, with each color variation offering a seemingly different texture. Huawei’s latest foldable is equipped with a foldable 7.8-inch 120 Hz OLED screen (8: 7.1, 2,480 x 2,200), which folds to give you a smaller 6.5-inch 19: 9 screen. However, there is no word on extra protection, such as ultra-thin glass, which would be a shame, as folding screens are not as well protected from damage as folding panels. However, the company suggests that you will not notice any folds in the folding panel, and the screen also supports stylus input via an optional pen. Otherwise, the Mate XS 2 is powered by Snapdragon 888 4G SoC, 8 GB to 12 GB RAM, 256 GB to 512 GB storage, 4,600 mAh battery (or 4,880 mAh battery for 12 GB / 512 GB model) and 66W charging. So those hoping for the latest silicon flagship, 5G connectivity and wireless charging may be disappointed here. Like older Mate X and Mate XS phones, you can also take selfies with the rear cameras using the other half of the screen as a viewfinder. Other notable features include a side-by-side fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.2, Harmony OS 2, support for Huawei NM card format, and Wi-Fi 6.
