The couple is believed to have fought against Russian forces as volunteers in support of the Ukrainian army, although this has not been confirmed. Some people have decided to come anyway and are in the country helping Ukraine’s military defense. Earlier, Secretary of Defense Ben Wallace backed up with Foreign Minister Liz Truss that Russian forces should be pushed back from “all of Ukraine” – suggesting that this should include Crimea. Speaking at an event at the Mansion House on Wednesday afternoon, Ms Truss said Western allies, including the United Kingdom, needed to “double down” and “keep moving faster and faster” to “push Russia away from the whole Ukraine”. Asked by Sky News if Ms. Truss was referring to Crimea, which was invaded and annexed by Russia in 2014, Wallace said: “Well, the international community believes that Russia should leave Ukraine. “The international community has condemned Russia for its invasion of Crimea, which was illegal in 2014. Its invasion of Donetsk, while acknowledging that it is illegal, is somewhat different.”
