Three California Highway Patrol officers were injured when a suspected drunken driver hit the back of a patrol car on a Los Angeles area, causing him to be engulfed in flames early Thursday morning. The huge fire was recorded on video. Authorities said police were investigating a collision along Highway 105 around midnight local time and had cordoned off the area with flares. About 90 minutes later, police say a woman in an SUV drove right through the flares and hit the back of a patrol car parked on the side of the highway. The patrol then caught fire, with two more police officers inside. A good Samaritan and another CHP officer ran into the burning car and pulled the two officers out just as the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames, according to Fox 11. The station reported that another good Samaritan pulled the third officer, who was hit by the rotating patrol, away from the flames. Witnesses said they saw her accelerate to 95 miles per hour before the crash. CHP officials told Fox 11 that they expected Jackson to be detained because he was driving under the influence.
