Thursday’s letter said the car left quickly, but returned and repeatedly pretended to try to seduce the crowd. He says pretending to run away from people is not a “small matter” after a Muslim family in London, Ont., Was hit and killed by a truck last summer in a hate attack. The BC Muslim Association says its first priority is to ensure that colleagues are safe after the Surrey incident and also calls on police to investigate it as a possible hate crime. The RCMP did not immediately respond to a request for further information. In a series of tweets, the National Muslim Council says it is calling on political leaders, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and BC Prime Minister John Horgan, to give priority to tackling Islamophobia. “While action has been taken on some of our recommendations, many of the recommendations we have made since the terrorist attack in London have not been implemented,” he said. “We have to do more. And we have to do it now.”
