Porsche seeks to evoke a healthy dose of nostalgia with its latest addition to the iconic 911 family: meet the 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic, a 992-gen 911 retro inspiration. According to the German carmaker, it is “inspired by the original 911” . and, in particular, the Carrera 2.7 RS. It will be a limited edition model with only 1,250 units scheduled and, yes, some of them will be coming to Canada. Sorry, but this video failed to load. The limited edition Porsche 911 Sport Classic makes its debut with 543 hp Back to video
In terms of performance, the 911 Sport Classic has the same twin-turbocharged 3.7-liter flat-six as the 911 Turbo. However, instead of 572 hp, power has been reduced to 543 hp. Do not tune in now. there is a good reason for “degradation”. This power is supplied exclusively to the rear wheels through a proper, God-given seven-speed gearbox. Following this path, Porsche sacrifices the powerful performance of the 911 Turbo for a more exciting driving experience. It also means that the 911 Sport Classic is the most powerful manual 911 on the market today. A complement to the powertrain is a “specially adapted” sports exhaust. and the usual Porsche goodies, such as the steering wheel on the rear wheels, the active reversing bars and the active shock absorbers Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).

The 911 Sport Classic exterior styling features include a double-bubble roof and bonnet, both made of carbon fiber. The wheels are exclusive to the model and are a modern interpretation of the Fuchs design, another nod to the Porsche heritage, just like the Sport Gray metallic paint and the light sporty gray stripes in contrast. Customers will also be able to identify the 911 Sport Classic in black (non-metallic), Agate Gray Metallic or Gentian Blue Metallic. However, the most remarkable design element should be the retro “ducktail” spoiler at the rear, as in the 911 Carrera 2.7 RS.

The theme of heritage continues in the interior with the use of Pepita fabric upholstery for door panels and seats. Combines well with leather and wooden decorative elements that are part of the basic packaging. A sign on the passenger side of the dashboard above the front passenger compartment lists the serial number of the car in the 1,250-unit production line. The 911 Sport Classic will be available in Canada as a 2023 model car, with the first units expected to land at the local Porsche Center in late 2022. There is no pricing information yet, but this is probably of little importance to its loyalists. Porsche and ardent collectors who are undoubtedly already making moves to secure a break.
