Japan’s Akariya Fireworks, Canada’s Midnight Sun Fireworks and Spain’s Pirotecnia Zaragozana are set to dazzle spectators on the Vancouver waterfront on July 23, 27 and 30. The summer of 2020 would mark the 30th anniversary of the festival before the COVID-19 pandemic forced crowded events to be canceled or postponed for public safety reasons. Organizers said they would celebrate the milestone this year. “It is always an important occasion when hundreds of thousands of people can experience something as magical as the Honda Celebration of Light. However, this occasion will be especially important as we return to illuminate the sky after a two-year pandemic break.” said Michael McNight, co-chair of the Vancouver Fireworks Festival, in a statement. “Therefore, we encourage the people of Vancouver, the county and this country to see it as an opportunity to go out and really celebrate this spectacular event.” In addition to the fireworks, the Red Bull Air Show will return for pre-show performances every night. The Canadian Snowbirds will also conduct formation flies in English Bay on July 27.
