It happened in Palm Beach County, Florida. New York-born Robert Levine, who now lives in Florida, faces charges of attempted murder after confronting Herbert Merritt, 64, at Kings Point Golf Course in Delray Beach, according to the New York Post. Levine was in his golf cart when he saw Merritt walking his dog near the pitch, police said in a statement. Levine allegedly drove to Merritt, shouted at him and then shot him with a pistol he allegedly pulled out, causing Merritt to flee. Merritt was shot in the ankle near the 15th hole, according to police, who said Levine was not finished. Levine allegedly took a club and hit Merritt with it, police said. Witnesses said they saw the whole thing from the adjacent balconies. Police said officers found Levine standing over the Merritt along the way. Merritt was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Levine was also hospitalized after a medical incident at the scene.
