As five new COVID-related deaths were recorded in the province on Wednesday, hospitalizations as a result of the virus have dropped. As of yesterday, 17 people were admitted to the hospital who were admitted with COVID-19. Five of these 17 are in intensive care. This is the first time hospitals have fallen below 20 in a long time. Health Minister John Haggie says Public Health officials, who met this week to analyze the latest data, hope the province has seen the worst wave of Omicron. He says hospitalizations are about two weeks behind the number of cases, and now that the number of cases has dropped significantly, “we may be in good shape.” 93 new confirmed cases of COVID were recorded yesterday and 114 as of Tuesday.
