The British comedian and writer signed on as the show’s presenter in 2014, taking over from Scottish presenter Craig Ferguson. Since then, he has done some impressive interviews with some of the biggest names in the world, including Adele, BTS and Prince Harry, and has been hugely successful with sections such as Carpool Karaoke and Crosswalk the Musical. Addressing his departure from the show, which is coming out after midnight in the US, Corden told Deadline that it was a “really difficult” decision, but he was “very proud” of what he had achieved. He has reportedly been offered multiple contract extensions that could keep him at Television City in Los Angeles for another five years, but instead chose to stay for just one more year. “I’m excited to expand,” he added. “I always thought I would do it for five years and then I would leave and then I would stay. “I’ve been really thinking about it for a long time, wondering if there might be another adventure.” Speaking to the audience during the filming of his latest episode, Corden said: “When I started this journey, it would always be this – it would be a journey, an adventure. “I never saw it as my final destination and I never want this show to remain welcome. I always like to do it. “I really think in a year from now it will be a good time to move on to see what else is out there. We are all determined to make this the best year we have ever had. “We will go out with a bang; it will be tears, so many tears, because that was the most difficult decision I ever had to make.” Image: Corden was a huge success in the United States.
