The video was released on social media and shows panicked passengers running into the departure hall. The Jewish press reported that during the family’s trip one of the children had found the unexploded ordnance while visiting the Golan Heights and had packed it to take home as a souvenir. When they showed it to security personnel as they checked their luggage, officials immediately called for the evacuation of the area, the newspaper reported. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a police station. A man was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries as he tried to leave the area in a luggage carousel, the Israeli Airports Authority said. He said the family was allowed to board the flight after being questioned by security personnel. Israel, which prides itself on high levels of aviation security, clashed with Syria over the Golan Heights during the 1967 and 1973 wars.
