Police say they responded to a call for help from the East Algoma OPP around 2pm yesterday, after a driver was spotted leaving Thessaloniki driving erratically at excessive speeds. Around 3:09 p.m., police say they spotted the vehicle moving erratically and hitting the shoulder of the road. The driver then collided with the parked police car before leaving. With the help of the Batchewana First Nation police service, the damaged truck was immobilized and as a result, Alexander Ciotti-Carpentier of Sault Ste. Marie has been arrested and is facing multiple charges (listed below). For more information, see the full version as follows: ADDITIONAL JOURNALIST MACDONALD-MEREDITH-ABERDEEN – On April 27, 2022, shortly after 2 p.m. At approximately 3:09 p.m., IPP noticed the suspect vehicle moving erratically and hitting his shoulder. The truck made a left turn at the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 638 where an OPP vehicle was parked. The truck collided with the cruiser and continued on Highway 638 towards the town of Echo Bay. With the assistance of the Batchewana First Nation police service, the damaged truck stopped on Church Street. When the driver was arrested, the police found that he had consumed alcohol. The driver was then arrested and taken to the Sault Ste Marie Detachment. Police found open alcoholic beverages, drug paraphernalia, a loaded saw and ammunition in the vehicle. As a result of the investigation, Alexander Ciotti-Carpentier, 29, from Sault Ste Marie was charged with:
