The Thunder Bay Health Unit announced on Monday an outbreak in Plaza 4 of the Tungsten St. facility. That came three days after the COVID outbreak was declared in Plaza 2. An Ontario nursing home outbreak is defined as two or more laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in residents or staff within a 14-day period where at least one case could reasonably have been infected at home. According to information published by TBDHU, there are currently eight other publicly reported cases of high-risk areas in the area, including one in Plaza 1 in Pioneer Ridge. The other facilities with ongoing cases are St. Joseph’s Hospital 2N and 5S, Southbridge Roseview Manor, Kwae Kii Wiin Center and Hogarth Riverview Manor 4N, 1N and 5N.
