If I get out of this junk knowing that I did everything I could to protect Trevor Lawrence, then I can sleep at night. Neil has played guard and right tackle in his career, so if this has to be a short-term plan, then I’m comfortable with it. The point is to put the top five players on the field to protect Lawrence and allow him the comfort he did not receive last season.

Detroit does not really need an attacking lineman here and may be ashamed to return to the corner long after Jeff Okudah. I invest in a top position like edge rusher and the best in this film-based category is Thibodeaux. I have not interviewed him, so I can not talk about it, but I like the player and what could be done in the NFL against Romeo Okwara.

The franchise decided to give Davis Mills a year to prove itself. It would be useless for anyone to surround him with a flawed support cast unable to give him a fair chance to prove whether he was capable or not. If the team upgrades the offensive line and fails, then pick a quarter next year and you will still have that offensive line to block. It’s hard to imagine Laremy Tunsil on next year’s roster with his current contract.
