The presenter of a TV travel series was robbed and attacked Monday night while riding on a train line in Chicago, as the city’s transportation system continues to see a series of violent incidents in recent weeks. Will Klinger was at the Chicago Transit Authority Red Line around 8:30 p.m. when he sat in a mostly empty car while going to meet a friend, he told the Chicago Tribune. He said he was on his phone when a woman grabbed the device as the train entered Addison Street Station near Wrigley Field and ran out the door. “It was a complete surprise when I suddenly found someone grabbing my phone from my hands and running out of the car,” Klinger told the newspaper. “I probably accidentally ran out the door after them, chasing to try to get my phone back. And the last thing I remember is that I fell and I do not even remember landing.” CHICAGO POLICE ADMINISTRATOR APPROVED CATEGORIES FOR SFIRA ATTACK, DISCOVER KIM FOXH: REPORT TV presenter Will Klinger was robbed and injured Monday night while on a Chicago checkpoint. (CTA) He said he remembers for the last time that he was surrounded by medical staff in an emergency room. The fall caused some bleeding in the brain, a fracture, four stitches in his forehead and a swollen hand. “Well, the lesson is, I guess, A: Do not take your phone out at night at ‘L’ and B: If your phone is stolen, do not chase the people who stole it because I paid a pretty hefty price,” he said. Fox News Digital has contacted Klinger, 64, who hosts “Wild Travels” on PBS, which celebrates America’s incredible paths. It previously hosted “Wild Chicago,” which was the same case for America’s third most populous city for 11 years.
Fox News Digital also contacted the Chicago Police Department and the CTA. The attack on Clinger was the second in 24 hours at two Red Line stations. The other resulted in a man being stabbed during an armed robbery.
